You Used To Not Exist

You used to not exist.

Then you were a baby.

Look at that belly button.

What a funny thing that is.

Soon, you will no longer exist again.

So where will you go?

Well… wait a second…

Where did you start?

Could it be you were always here?

I sincerely don’t see how it cannot.

“I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.”

  1. My perspective on this matter is that, we all were never totally absent, we were just non existent in the present form, that does not mean we were nothing or we didn’t exist at all . What I am trying to say is that, we were perhaps were in different kind of existence or form before we were evolved in this present form. After we will die, we will again be in a different kind of existence, but we will never become “nothing”. There is no such thing as “nothing” or “naught” in my way of looking at things.

    1. You are correct. This has been an argument of mine for some time. I did not exist for eternity past, and after my death, I will not exist for eternity future. I don’t like the idea of winking out of existence, but my discomfort is not a logical argument against it. Upon the death of our star, Sol, the atoms making up my body will be again become scattered throughout the resulting nebula.

  2. Somehow I know I have always been, and I will always be. Don’t know why, but I just know.

  3. This is a great concept. It’s inspiring.

  4. Stoic indeed. Nice site you have here!

  5. I hate to toss a negative note to this. I did like the poem, but there is no evidence Mark Twain ever said that. As far as I can gather, no one knows its origin. Vet it. Perhaps you might change the attribution to “Anonymous.”

  6. I look forward to my next chapter, whenever that may be… I do not fear
